Ebook {Epub PDF} Snow by Marcus Sedgwick

 · Today he remembers the snowy winters of his childhood in Kent and muses on the many different words that describe snow. Marcus Sedgwick is best known as a children's author.  · In this little book, Sedgwick demonstrates his profound respect for snow and real concern for the environment, alongside that childhood glee and never-ending wonder at its dangerous beauty. Full of wonderful writing, personal notes, quotations and references, Snow is a fantastic addition to this series of books (and one to add to your Christmas wishlist perhaps!)Estimated Reading Time: 5 mins. Sedgwick's authorial voice is nothing short of sensational, the fairytale quality running under his retelling the bloody Russian Revolutions through the eyes of Arthur Ransome. The novel is split into three parts, and Sedgwick jumps between stories until they lace into one another and never once lose pace or connection with the reader/5.

Snow, by Marcus Sedgwick, is the latest addition to the publisher's monograph series - beautiful books which explore aspects of the natural world and the rich variety of places in which the authors live. Echoing the six sides of a snowflake, the six chapters in this highly readable study delve into the science and art of snow - its impact. Of all weathers, snow is the one that has always affected Marcus Sedgwick the most. While many people's idea of the perfect holiday involves sun, sea an sand, he instead makes trips to cold, snowy parts of the world: Russia, Scandinavia or the Arctic Circle. Published by Little Toller on October 6th , this is a short book about Snow, in six parts, looking at language, mythology, climate, literature, art and b.

Blood Red, Snow White was a beautiful way to follow up and to enhance my understanding of yet another piece of the Bolshevik puzzle. This book is beautifully written; I have not read any of Marcus Sedgwick's previous work, but I thought that the opening chapters were dreamily penned, compellingly told, and beautifully rendered. Snow, by Marcus Sedgwick, is the latest addition to the publisher’s monograph series – beautiful books which explore aspects of the natural world and the rich variety of places in which the authors live. Snow is the latest addition to small indie publisher Little Toller’s series of ‘monographs’. These smart little hardbacks are dedicated to writing ‘attuned to the natural world,’ (see previous reviews here: Mermaids; Herbaceous). Marcus Sedgwick is one of my favourite authors.
